(10/24/2008) NEW HAVEN- Anthony DeFelice, a 41-year-old New Haven resident, was arrested by State Police this afternoon after engaging in a pursuit on Interstate 95. The incident represented the culmination of a day-long search for DeFelice after he shot at a man in a car on Middletown Avenue this morning in a domestic dispute. DeFelice, who at the time was driving in a United States Postal Service Maintenance Vehicle (he is a USPS employee), shot at the victim after he discovered that he was the new boyfriend of DeFelice’s former girlfriend. DeFelice abandoned his USPS vehicle in Wallingford, where he is employed, and drove down Interstate 95 in his personal vehicle where he was apprehended, in Fairfield County, by State Police. DeFelice was taken to Bridgeport Hospital from where he was released into the custody of New Haven Police. DeFelice has not yet been fully processed. Therefore, charges and additional information are not available at this time. New Haven Police are currently searching DeFelice’s home for any firearms he may have owned.
